In the end there will be only one left… Whoops! This line is from another series! Although, thinking how fast George R.R. Martin kills the characters in his books, it would also fit very well in game of thrones. Who would you like to see again from all those who have left us (well, not many have died…)?
Which Game of Thrones character do you want the god of light to bring back?
The Game of the Thrones characters of the poll
Stannis Baratheon
Lord of Dragonstone, younger brother of Robert Baratheon and one of the claimants to the throne. Unfortunately, that didn’t end well. Before she died by Brienne’s sword, his redheaded friend had led him to countless defeats and a tragedy which included the violent execution of his only daughter. At least, he died with honor on the battlefield.
Sir Barristan Selmy
He lived and died bravely holding his sword. Everyone was talking about his fencing skills. Experienced warrior with many years of presence in the royal guard. Shortly before he retired, a softie was found who removed him from the royal guard, and looking for a new face to guard, he sided with Daenerys Targaryen.
Sir Arthur Dayne
We didn’t see much of him but we know he was in Aerys II Targaryen’s main guard. He was extremely good with swords since Eddard Stark took it as a badge of honor that he managed to kill him (he forgot to mention that he backstabbed him of course…).
Roose Bolton
Lord of the Dreadfort. He had started as a supporter of Robb Stark but somewhere along the way his plans changed and he followed the Lannisters. Together with the Freys, they orchestrated the bloody wedding but… it didn’t end well! He died form the hand of Ramsay Bolton’s first-born and bastard son when he announced to him that he would have a baby brother.
Robert Baratheon
A great warrior in his youth and a sweetheart. After losing the woman he loved, Lyanna Stark (Eddard’s sister), he took the throne for good and took Cersei as his wife. He started drinking and occasionally hunting. Eventually a wild boar took revenge on the rest of the pack and fatally wounded him.
Robb Stark
Promising young man, with strategic abilities. Son of Eddard Stark. After he had taken off for King’s Landing, he was murdered at the wedding of his uncle, Edmure Tully.
Rickon Stark
Eddard’s third and youngest son. He did not play a decisive role in the hunt for the throne and the series in general. But his death taught us the importance of zigzagging when walking. Ramsay Bolton killed him with an arrow while he was trying to reach his brother.
Renly Baratheon
The third and youngest brother of the Baratheon family (everyone had a lot of children at the time!). Contender for the throne because if he waited his turn, Joffrey, Tommen and Stannis would go first. Married to Margaery Tyrell out of convenience but secretly in love with her brother! He was left speechless when a shadow was cast from the mirror as he asked “Mirror, mirror who is the hottest king of westeros?” (maybe he got his answer).
Ramsay Bolton
One of the beloved characters of the series… Sadistic, perverted (even for Game of thrones) and generally teased with megalomaniacal tendencies. Despite his efforts to improve, he did not succeed. Neither his behavior nor his brains saved him from becoming a dog treat for his own dogs (what a cute scene???).
Oberyn Martell
Also known as Dorne’s red viper, the prince was a great warrior as well as a glutton. Despite looking smart, he made a fool of himself not to kill Ser Gregor Clegane instantly. And he paid for this mistake with a strong headache…
Margaery Tyrell
Beautiful and ambitious. Both to a superlative degree! She tried to marry every prince of the series after making it her goal to become queen! Renly first. Renly is dead? She goes to Joffrey! Joffrey dies? She goes to Tommen! Then, Cersei had a little outburst of anger and set fire to all of King’s Landing. Somehow beautiful Margaery went everywhere.
Mance Rayder
A former raven of the Night’s Watch that he preferred living free and lead the rest of the free men. Also known as the king beyond the wall, he did not get along well with his old comrades-in-arms. After he had been caught and torched and before he began to suffer burns, Jon Snow shot him with an arrow as a gesture of pity.
Lysa Arryn
Every man’s dream… Sister of Catelyn Stark and lord of the valley. Her love for Petyr Baelish took her to the clouds from where she fell when the love of her life dropped her.
Khal Drogo
We didn’t get to know much about this gentleman since he died of poisoning in season 2. He commanded a large army with excellent skills in making a mess of everything. The first and great love of Daenerys Targaryen.
Joffrey Baratheon
A born tease. Word spread throughout Westeros that he is the product of an incest between Cersei and Jaime. Joffrey set high levels on how much you can loathe a TV character. He died slowly and agonizingly of poisoning on his wedding day. And it was the happiest day of our lives!
Jeor Mormont
Brave and righteous commander of the Night’s Watch. Unfortunately, he was stabbed in the back when some crooks tried to overturn the strategy he had designed.
Hodor
A bit tight-lipped! The noble giant bravely stood by the Starks all his life. He met a slow and violent death from the zombies after someone had to hold the door until little Bran Stark escaped.
Eddard Stark
Lord of Winterfell and right hand of King Robert. Despite his reputation as a good warrior, the fact that he was played by Sean Bean should have foreshadowed his end. He was quickly executed on the charge of traitor.
Catelyn Stark
Devoted wife to Eddard and very protective of her children. She was murdered at her brother’s wedding, Edmure Tully’s (as was everyone else who happened to be there).
